VolunteersAs its name suggests, Oudezijds 100 is still identifiable with the place where it was established. Starting in 1955, number 100 on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal became home to a small community of dedicated people who sought to provide assistance to those in need around them. Now the community consists of some 60 people, divided over a number of houses on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal and Voorburgwal. | |
In addition, more than a 150volunteers from all over The Netherlands are involved in the work at Oudezijds 100. Some assist with the weekend work, others as doctors at the first-aid medical centre Kruispost or as board members of the foundation, in the administration or as a receptionist. Country-houseThe community also owns a country-house in the Frisian countryside, Maria ter Claesze. Here the community members can stay and recuperate for shorter or longer periods in a rural area. Maria ter Claesze also seeks to meet the local need for (pastoral) care.
